about us

A social group of dedicated fly fishers who are passionate about fly fishing in the tropical north of Australia and equally as passionate about the close camaraderie this sport brings. This passion and dedication led to the creation of the NT Flyfishers Social Mob blog site; an interactive and creative outlet where everyone can share our wonderful fly fishing adventures and link into the “after fishing” social events we enjoy in this incredible part of the world.

The Dry is here!

Arrived back in Oz a couple of days ago with serious withdrawal symptoms through lack of fishing for the last month so a trip out to Corroboree was deemed the correct medicine.

5.00am departure sure confirmed that the “Dry” has arrived, 13 degrees going through the Humpty and thick mist over the Adelaide flood plains. Tip of the day: “Don’t leave home without the car heater!”

Early morning mist

Smooth dirt into the ramp and one boat already on the water. Launched the boat into clean water alive with baitfish and tarpon and looking good with LOTS of lilies lining all the banks. Not far from the ramp presented a Wayne Hinton slider fly (10 years old) into the lilies and was rewarded with the first of 8 Saratoga (largest 62cms) on the second cast. Togas were everywhere with more being lost to the lilies than being boated, great fun.

Second Cast

10 year old fly

The waterway is looking great, albeit more lilies than normal for this time of the year. Found plenty of Togas and Tarpon. Barra a little scarce but hooked one and heard heaps deep in the lilies and under the floating grass.

Another to the boat
Even the Tarpon took the fly!!

We are just so lucky to have such a waterway so close to us.

Remember: “You’ll never never know, if you never never go. Get out there and fish.”
